After 17 enjoyable years in High Street Banking; I started an independent Willwriting company offering a Fixed Fee and a Home Visit. We had a good idea and an Amstrad PC in the bedroom but no office and, of course, no clients. 30 years later; we have expanded our product range and accumulated 54,000 clients but are still essentially offering the same service.

I have been working for County Douglas Law for 18 years, starting off as part time instruction taker, to now, full time estate planner and director. When working part time I also worked in the car industry, in both the sales and service departments, I chose to leave and become full-time at County Douglas Law after the birth of my son in 2012.

I joined County Douglas Law as office manager, estate planner and director in 2015 after working for several years in finance and as a management accountant at an education charity. The service we provide with our the home visits for clients really helps us to get the best idea of their needs and how we can help them to achieve this end.

Our History

We were started by Keith Douglas as County Wills Reading in 1989 becoming County Wills & Probate in 2008. Over the years as our business has grown we have incorporated several other companies along the way:

  • in 1995 The Will Company (Sidcup, Kent)

  • 2000 Willwriting Systems Southeast (Thatcham, Reading) & Capital Wills (Croydon)

  • 2002 Crown Wills (Windsor, Berkshire)

  • 2009 Solent Wills (Southampton)

  • 2011-2014 The National Will Company (Middlesex & Chilterns) and Lifetime Estate Planning (Including Berry, Birch & Noble, Money Portal & Westons Financial Services)

  • and most recently in 2018 Trust Wills (Including Centre for Wills & Somerset Lodge)

Between 2013-2015 Sally Bell and Pete Douglas, the second generation of the family, joined the business full time, we changed our name to County Douglas Law and moved our office to Basingstoke.

In 2017 Keith stepped back from the day to day running of the business and handed over to Sally and Pete, who  between them are continuing to move the business forward and will continue to grow with your support.
